Square one was founded in 2018 upon a wealth of local and international consulting and finance experience.

It was valuable combination for evolving workplaces where objectives and operations constantly fell out of key. Addressing their basic need for operational optimization along with workforce management was our own square one, and anchored the delivery of practical, results-oriented solutions.

Our earliest successes emerged from our reputation in governance, risk management and forensic auditing, but a turning point came in 2021, when we developed and implemented South Africa’s first digital census system.

Our consulting engagement on that project challenged us to innovate digital solutions that employed GIS and integrated with big data collection systems. Before we knew it, we were partnered with leading technology companies, and our home-grown ethos for practical solutions had ventured into IT service and asset management. We didn’t know it then, but we had stumbled upon a competency that we had much to contribute to.

Today, digital transformation using AI is a primary area of business and we earned the Best Leadership and Management Consulting Practice in South Africa award from International Wealth & Finance.
